Tuesday, April 26th, Pearl Fryar taught the “Art of Topiary,” an ArtFeilds event, at the Moore Farms Botanical Garden in Lake City, SC.

The class consisted of 21 participants who were each able to exercise their creativity on individual Spartan Junipers, small trees, which were donated by City Nursery in Bishopville, SC.

Spartan Junipers are one of the many plants that can be found in Mr. Fryar’s own topiary garden, and during the class, Pearl gave a hands-on demonstration of how to work with the plant. He also assisted the participants with their own creations.

The class was a success, and the money raised from the event was donated to Pearl’s scholarship fund, a scholarship created to assist average high school students who have great potential.

Each year, the scholarship is able to provide at least two South Carolina students with the financial aid necessary to attend Central Carolina Technical College. This year, through the topiary workshop and Moore Farm’s generosity, another $960.00 has been added to this cause.
